The Alberta Association of Rehabilitation Centres (AARC)
AARC's mandate is to provide support to rehabilitation service providers of community-based services for people with disabilities. The goal is to ensure quality service delivery for clients. In fulfilling this mandate, AARC does not limit its support exclusively to its members. The association's education, accreditation and advocacy efforts also have a positive effect on organizations outside the umbrella.

The Alberta Association for Supported Employment (AASE)
The primary goal of AASE is to create a formal network of service agencies which promotes the sharing of information and opportunities in the field of supported employment. We are an inclusive organization that supports the development and evolution of supported employment initiatives.

Alberta Government - Education -Special Needs

Under the School Act, school boards are required to provide every resident student with an education. That includes providing access to special education programs for students with special needs.

Association for Supported Community Connections (no website)
ASCC currently provides In Home Respite, Out of Home Respite, Community Support, Life Skills Training, and Transitional Planning. ASCC also has a children/youth respite home called "Maitland House" that is located in Spruce Grove, Alberta. Maitland House provides 24 hour support for up to 30 days a year.

Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) provides financial and health benefits for adult Albertans with a permanent disability that severely impairs their ability to earn a living. The level of benefits depends on income and assets.

Autism Aspergers Friendship Society
The AFS provides respite care in a recreational environment for families with children-teens-adults in the Autism/Aspergers/PDD spectrum in the Calgary area.

Autism Partnership - Calgary Office
Autism Partnership was formed in 1994 to provide effective services to families with children with autism. A non-profit agency based out of Canmore, Alberta that facilitates personalized support for adults with developmental disabilties in the townships of Canmore, Banff, Cochrane, and the Municipal Districts of Bighorn and Rockyview.

Bridges Family Programs Association of Southeastern Alberta
Comprised of three distinct programs - Bridges Program, Children's Fetal Alcohol Services, and the Southeast Home Visitation Program. Provides family support for a wide range of concerns.

Cause and Effect
A comprehensive and coordinated service delivery program with direct and consultative therapy addressing the specific needs of each child. It has the status of a Designated Special Education ECS Program. Cause and Effect operates out of the High River area of Alberta, but provides programming to the Calgary, Airdrie, High River, Okotoks areas and surrounding communities.

Community Rehabilitation and Disability Studies, University of Calgary
Community Rehabilitation and Disability Studies (CRDS) supports individuals, families and small groups affected by disabling conditions and chronic health concerns to live, learn, work and participate in their communities. CRDS provides education, design delivery and management of community-based services that offer short-term assistance and ongoing support. As such, CRDS responds to the challenges of health, education, advocacy, legal and social reform to empower individuals and communities.
